Menorca // Sitting here in the plaça writing this caption with a white wine and one euro caña, listening to people speak a language that isn’t our own. We have a reservation to eat outside at 9.30 at a place that caught our eye this afternoon, and then we’ll see where the night takes us. We discovered that we like straight vermut earlier, and there’s a bar by the port that’s open ‘til 2 am…sounds like fate no? Travelling, how we’ve missed you. #TheConstantlyCurious
Hiatus // It's been quite a while since we posted here, and it would be lovely to tell you all that our absence was fuelled by 'ran an Ironman, got buff, fully detoxed, discovered the meaning of life high up a hill in the Highlands, got a cat, dug up a priceless doubloon in the back garden, ate exotic biscuits, and become qualified in teaching Esperanto.' Alas, life has simply been lived. We've also not travelled here in the UK since York because, well, we've had our fill and spent as much money as we're happy to spend on domestic adventures this summer. Also, the truth is that many of the things we love so much about travelling ain't possible or present in this fair isle we call home; the itch just doesn't get scratched. (we know a bunch of you feel exactly the same; if you don't though, that's fine). In addition, many obvious and not-so-obvious barriers to overseas travel remain in place for UK citizens too, and we just couldn't be arsed with dealing with the uncertainty and infl

Sicily has always been a crossroads of civilisations and a treasure trove of stories, from its Greek, Roman, Arabic and Norman heritage to the role it is playing in today’s migratory routes north from Africa. Yet, many people simply associate it with the Italian Mafia and The Godfather movies. Certainly, they have played an important role in the island's recent history, but are only one small element of Sicily’s sweeping story (and not the most interesting chapter of it!). Harbour // Essaouira is the town we almost didn't make it to. Before arriving in Morocco, and in our first few days in Marrakech, many people said it wasn't worth a visit. For them, this outpost on the Atlantic coast was windy, a little ugly and, if you did decided to make the journey, then a day was really enough. Within minutes of arriving at the old city walls, we knew they had made a mistake; this was our sort of place. Interestingly, there's another version of the second photo in this series which has Emily in a hat; it's our most stolen photo ever (by companies and websites). Although it still doesn't beat the time we were walking down a street in Cartagena and saw a shot of Andrew in a hammock plastered all over their advertising! #TheConstantlyCurious
